Wheat is received at the flour mill, inspected, and classified by grade. Each grade is stored separately in different silos. A great deal of dust is generated during the filling operation into large silos. Different grades of wheat should not be mixed together, so continuous level monitoring of the wheat grade remaining in each silo is required. The large size of the silos, normally with multiple emptying points, promotes the creation of irregular formations and build-up inside the silos. This makes it difficult to measure inventory accurately. Precise and reliable level measurement permits early detection of build-up, facilitating timely scheduling of maintenance and cleaning. Avoiding unexpected interruptions in the production process prevents associated losses in time and money. Installing level switches prevents overfilling that may lead to overspills.
The Rosemount 2501 Solids Level Switch withstands heavy loads and extreme temperatures, and is suitable for full, demand or empty detection for all bulk media in all types of vessel. It is a simple, robust and reliable technology that is insensitive to dust, electrical charge, adhesion, extreme temperature and pressure. It is simple to install and can be mounted in a vertical, horizontal or oblique position.
